15-year-old recovering after alleged dangerous driving incident involving dozens of riders in Kerrisdale

Vancouver police say a 15-year-old youth is recovering from minor injuries after an incident on Halloween night in Kerrisdale involving dozens of riders and allegations of dangerous driving.

The Story

Vancouver Police say several families flagged down officers in Kerrisdale on Halloween night to report a group of about two dozen riders dressed in similar costumes who were driving dangerously and almost hit them.

Police say one responding patrol car was also almost hit by a 15-year-old youth riding an e-dirt bike.

Vancouver police allege the youth was travelling at 50 to 60 km/h, blew through multiple stop signs, and refused to stop for police before colliding with another vehicle.

The youth was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident, and police say charges have not yet been recommended.

Vancouver police note that most e-dirt bikes are designed for off-road use and are not permitted on public streets and highways.
