Cirque du Soleil seeks Vancouver children under 12 for “junior critic” reviews of LUZIA

Cirque du Soleil says applications are open from November 3 to 8 for children under 12 to review its Vancouver Big Top show LUZIA.

The Story

Cirque du Soleil is inviting Vancouver children under the age of 12 to take part in a “junior critic” program for its Big Top production LUZIA, with applications accepted from November 3 to 8, 2026.

The program will run during the week of November 16, shortly after LUZIA opens at the Big Top at Concord Pacific Place near False Creek. Selected children will attend a performance with their families, with seating and snacks included.

After the show, each junior critic will complete a short video interview and provide a written review. Organizers say they are looking for the children’s genuine reactions, including what impressed them, what made them laugh and any questions they may have had.

Cirque du Soleil plans to share the junior critics’ reviews on its website and social media during the week of November 23, with some reviews also potentially appearing in select media outlets.

Cirque du Soleil says parents or guardians must apply on behalf of their child using an online form. The application asks families to explain why their child would make a good junior critic, either through a written submission or a short video, and children do not need to submit a formal theatre review as part of the application.

The production LUZIA is directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, in association with Brigitte Poupart, and combines acrobatics, music, elaborate costumes and theatrical storytelling inspired by Mexico’s landscapes, culture and traditions.

Its name comes from the Spanish words luz, meaning light, and lluvia, meaning rain. The show is described as using water during live acrobatic performances, and Cirque du Soleil says it was the first touring Cirque du Soleil show to incorporate water into its acrobatics.
