The Professional Women’s Hockey League and its players association have agreed on higher minimum salaries and expanded full active rosters for the upcoming season.
The Story
The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) and the league’s players association have reached an agreement on multiple changes, including an increase to minimum annual base salaries and a larger full active roster limit.
Under the agreement, minimum annual base salaries will rise from US$42,000 in 2026-27 to $52,500 by 2030-31.
Each team will carry 24 full active roster spots starting this coming season, up from 23.
The agreement also removes reserve players for this season, after teams were previously permitted to carry three reserve contracts in earlier campaigns.
To address unexpected roster situations, the league is introducing one-game standard player agreements.
Training camps open Nov. 18, with the regular season beginning Dec. 5.
