Jeffery Simmons debuts with six tackles, sack as Bears beat Seahawks 34-17 in Seattle

Jeffery Simmons recorded six tackles, including a first-quarter sack, as the Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026.

The Story

The Chicago Bears opened their Monday game in Seattle with a strong defensive impact from new defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who led the team with six tackles in a 34-17 win over the Seahawks on Nov. 2, 2026.

Simmons posted a first-quarter sack and also made another tackle for loss, disrupting Seattle’s offensive rhythm and loosening up the line of scrimmage for the Bears’ defensive linemen to generate game-changing plays.

For Simmons, the debut marked a new start after five consecutive losing seasons with the Tennessee Titans. “The last couple of years (the Titans) have been hard not winning football games, but also, for me, what can I do to help (them) get back to that?” he said. “It sucks that I wasn’t able to do that, but I’m a Chicago Bear now.”

He added: “Things change, and right now for me, to be able to be here, praise God. I’m happy to be here. I never want to try to compare — my time in Tennessee was unbelievable... But I’m here now and I’m going to continue to do what I need to do to help this team win football games.”

Defensive end Montez Sweat contributed in his return from suspension with a sack, while two other sacks were negated by penalties in the secondary.

With six minutes left, the Bears closed out the contest on a play involving Simmons and Sweat that forced Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold out of the pocket. Austin Booker tipped Darnold’s pass, and James Lynch intercepted it, returning it to the Seahawks’ 6-yard line.

Seattle’s final margin was essentially decided shortly after, when D’Andre Swift scored on a touchdown run to extend the Bears’ lead to 17 and end the game’s scoring swing.

Lynch said the defensive pressure created opportunities for the group, adding, “You’ve got to focus on him, and it allows all of us to get more opportunities. He’s a special player, and it’s nice to have him on our side.”
