The Vancouver Public Library is holding a free Dolly Parton-themed event, ‘Dolly-Palooza,’ on Oct. 15 at its Central branch.
The Story
The Vancouver Public Library will host Dolly-Palooza, a Dolly Parton celebration featuring a mix of films, music-focused activities and community programming on Thursday, Oct. 15.
The event runs from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the VPL Central branch, 350 West Georgia St. It is free to attend, but organizers say spaces are limited and registration in advance is required.
Dolly-Palooza is planned as an afternoon and evening of activities that include screenings of Parton films, with Parton-themed open mic, colouring sheets and trivia scheduled during intermissions.
The event description invites attendees to sing in a “safe space,” dress up as Dolly, reminisce about Dolly concerts, and potentially form or join a tribute band. It also frames the gathering as a community space for fans.
The library’s programming is connected to Parton’s broader public legacy beyond music, including her Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, an initiative that the event materials say has donated an estimated 300 million books to children.
The combination of screenings, interactive breaks and casual audience participation is designed to offer multiple ways for attendees to engage with Parton’s work throughout the afternoon and evening at the downtown library.
