The CFIA says Taeyangcho Gochujang is being recalled from the marketplace because it contains wheat that is not declared on the label.
The Story
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for Taeyangcho Gochujang (hot pepper paste), warning that the product contains wheat that is not declared on the label.
The CFIA says the affected products were sold in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The recall notice asks people with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders not to consume the recalled items because they may cause serious or life-threatening reactions.
The CFIA classifies this as a Class I recall, indicating there is a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems or death.
The CFIA recommends that anyone who has the recalled product either throw it out or return it to the location where it was purchased.
The recall covers Taeyangcho Gochujang (hot pepper paste) in 170 g (UPC 8 801075 012323), 500 g (UPC 8 801075 012316) and 1 kg (UPC 8 801075 012620), including all codes where wheat is not declared on the label.
