The Story
Advance voting in the B.C. election is down compared with 2024 after the first three days, Elections BC says.
From Friday to Sunday, Elections BC reported about 440,000 votes cast, compared with almost 480,000 for the first three days of advance voting in the last election.
Early voting continues across the province today and tomorrow until 8 p.m., with final voting day on Saturday.
In 2024, more than one million advance ballots were cast, a surge of 49 per cent compared with the previous election and a record for total advance turnout.
A report by the chief electoral officer says advance voting has steadily increased in popularity over two decades, with almost half of all votes in 2024 cast in advance compared with about 20 per cent in 2013.
For the current election, ballots cast in advance so far represent about 12 per cent of all registered voters.
