Environment Canada meteorologist Jennifer Kowal says rain moves out Tuesday and a ridge of high pressure will bring a sunny, warm weekend to Vancouver.
The Story
A period of heavy rain that hit Metro Vancouver overnight Monday is expected to move on around lunchtime on Tuesday, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Jennifer Kowal.
Kowal said some showers and clouds may linger for a time, but conditions are expected to improve for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, Sept. 30. She said Wednesday could include some early cloud and fog, but it is not expected to last long.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to see temperatures near seasonal norms, with highs around 16 C and lows around 10 C.
A passing system forecast to miss Metro Vancouver Wednesday night is expected to bring some clouds to the area as another system arrives on B.C.’s Coast. Kowal said she expects that system to pass to the north of the city along the Central Coast, with a cloudy Thursday and only a scattering of showers in the northern parts of Vancouver.
Kowal attributed the clearer outlook for the weekend to a ridge of high pressure forecast to push up from Washington state, saying it should “clear us out for the weekend.” She said temperatures are expected to rise above seasonal levels for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 18 C and 19 C.
Kowal said that while lows are still likely to drop to around 10 C, it should be a good weekend to be outdoors.
