The Story
The Seahawks turned in a dominant defensive performance and an efficient offensive day to beat the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Lumen Field, improving Seattle to a 4-3 record.
Here are 12 numbers highlighting the game’s key turns. The Chiefs reached the red zone twice, the first time that has happened for Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes as their starting quarterback, spanning 153 starts including the postseason. Kansas City gained just 213 yards, their fewest with Mahomes as the starter, and recorded 11 first downs, also their fewest in that situation. The Chiefs scored three points, tied for their fewest with Mahomes under centre.
Kenneth Walker III came in as the league’s leading rusher averaging 6.3 yards per carry, and he finished with 36 rushing yards while Seattle limited Kansas City’s ground attack. The Seahawks also extended a franchise record of 36 games without allowing a 100-yard rusher, postseason included. Jaxon Smith-Njigba led Seattle’s receiving output with 150 yards on nine receptions, including a 28-yard touchdown, and it marked the sixth time in seven games this season that he has topped 100 yards in a game.
Smith-Njigba also registered league-leading totals of 867 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns through the first seven games of the season. According to NFL Research, he is one of only two players in the Super Bowl era—along with teammate Cooper Kupp (2021 with the Rams)—to have at least 800 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns through the first seven games of a season.
On third down, Seattle converted at a 68.8% rate (11-for-16), including multiple conversions on third-and-long, one of which was Smith-Njigba’s 28-yard touchdown reception. NFL Research also cited that as Seattle’s highest third-down conversion rate with at least 15 attempts since play-by-play data was first tracked in 1991, and the best by any team this season with that many attempts.
On the ground, the Seahawks totaled 153 rushing yards, their second-highest figure this season. Emanuel Wilson had 100 rushing yards on 24 carries, including a 21-yard touchdown that helped put the game on ice. Tight end AJ Barner added three rushing attempts, all short-yardage sneaks that went for first downs, including a fourth-down conversion to finish the game, and he also made four catches for 42 yards, which were his second-highest totals this season in both categories.
