Nanaimo RCMP are seeking help identifying a man after a woman reported he grabbed her downtown Sept. 17.
The Story
Nanaimo RCMP are appealing to the public for help identifying a suspect in an alleged unwanted touching incident that occurred in September.
Police say that just after 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, in downtown Nanaimo, a woman reported she was walking southbound after crossing Front Street near Port Place Mall when a stranger grabbed her.
RCMP say the man then jumped on bus #40, which takes passengers to Vancouver Island University.
The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s, about five foot seven inches tall, with a medium build and sandy or reddish hair, and he was wearing a black hoodie at the time.
RCMP say they obtained photos of the suspect from inside the BC Transit bus but have been unable to identify him.
Insp. Donovan Tait, Operations Officer with the Nanaimo RCMP, said, “This type of behaviour is concerning and will not be tolerated in our community.” He added, “We are asking anyone who recognizes the individual in these images, or who has information about this incident, to contact police. Even seemingly minor details can play an important role in advancing an investigation.”
