Advance voting opened Saturday at 59 Vancouver voting locations, as mail-in ballot requests surpassed 18,000 ahead of the Oct. 5 deadline.
The Story
Advance voting opened Saturday morning at 59 voting locations across Vancouver, nearly triple the number available for the last election.
Mail-in ballots remain an option until the Oct. 5 deadline, and city officials say mail-in ballot requests have surpassed 18,000—more than a 70 per cent jump from the entire 2022 election.
Voters will make their choices for mayor, 10 city councillors, and several park board commissioners and school trustees.
Residents casting ballots can also expect three yes-or-no questions tied to city spending on transportation, community services, and parks and infrastructure.
The ballot also includes questions connected to Vancouver’s ABC majority, which organized a $500,000 public safety plebiscite: whether the city should adjust its laws on open drug use, and whether the city should lobby the provincial government for more voluntary and involuntary treatment beds.
Advance voting continues for three more days on Oct. 7, 10 and 13, with the final day of voting set for Saturday, Oct. 17.
