Vancouver forecast: mixed midweek before sunny, warmer weekend

Environment Canada meteorologist Jennifer Kowal says Metro Vancouver’s rain moves out Tuesday and a sunnier, warmer weekend follows.

The Story

Rain that hit Metro Vancouver overnight Monday is expected to move out around lunchtime on Tuesday, with some showers and cloud lingering briefly, Environment Canada meteorologist Jennifer Kowal said.

Kowal said Wednesday (Sept. 30), ahead of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, is expected to improve after any early cloud and fog, which she said should not last long.

Both Wednesday and the surrounding days are expected to stay near seasonal norms, with highs around 16 C and lows down to 10 C, Kowal said.

Kowal said a low-pressure system is forecast to miss the Greater Vancouver area on Wednesday night, passing to the north of the city along B.C.’s Central Coast, which she described as “pretty much missed by this system.”

She said Thursday is expected to be cloudy, with some showers in the northern parts of the city but only a scattering.

For the weekend, Kowal said a ridge of high pressure forecast to push up from Washington state is expected to “clear us out for the weekend,” leading to temperatures above seasonal norms.

She said highs of 18 C and 19 C are predicted for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows still likely dropping to around 10 C.
