The Vancouver Public Library is holding a free speed-friending event for people new to Vancouver on Oct. 27 at Central Library.
The Story
The Vancouver Public Library says the speed-friending event is aimed at people who are new to Vancouver and may be finding it difficult to make friends.
An event listing says participants should “bring your favourite book, e-book, graphic novel, DVD, podcast, blog or zine” to discuss during the in-person session at Central Library.
The listing also says the event will give each person six minutes to chat about the items they brought, and that if it does not work out, attendees can still “continue on with your evening.”
The event runs for two hours and has a maximum capacity of 100 people. It takes place Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Central Library, 350 West Georgia St., and the cost is free, though registration is required.
