Oilers place Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on injured reserve ahead of Canucks visit

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury ahead of Edmonton’s game against Vancouver.

The Story

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will miss Edmonton’s game as the Edmonton Oilers visit the Vancouver Canucks, with the veteran forward placed on injured reserve for a lower-body injury suffered in practice Monday.

Head coach Mike Babcock described the injury as day-to-day after morning skate, adding that day-to-day for Nugent-Hopkins “usually means ‘two weeks.’”

Zach Hyman is also listed as unavailable for the Thursday contest with an upper-body injury.

Edmonton has also placed forward Matthew Savoie and defenceman Alec Regula on long-term injured reserve.

The Oilers recalled forward Josh Samanski from the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors under emergency conditions.

Babcock confirmed Edmonton will start Devon Levi in goal for the Thursday game in place of Tristan Jarry.
