The Seattle Seahawks partnered with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health throughout October to support the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, including events at Lumen Field and Ticketmaster Tailgate.
The Story
The Seattle Seahawks marked the end of October by highlighting events and game-day activations tied to the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative with a partnership involving Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
To begin the month, Seahawks members and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health staff raised the Crucial Catch flag at Lumen Field. The team said Dr. Joseph Rosales, Executive Medical Director of Cancer Services, Kelly Campbell, Region Vice President, and Julie Manas, President of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health were in attendance, along with Chuck Arnold, President of Seattle Seahawks and First & Goal Inc, and Amy Sprangers, Chief Revenue Officer.
Ahead of the Crucial Catch game, the Seahawks hosted six Virginia Mason Franciscan Health cancer survivors for a special patient practice experience. The team said attendees watched practice and had the opportunity to meet Seahawks players and coaches, and that the six honorees would be celebrated during halftime at the Sunday game.
For gameday on October 11, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health provided cancer screening and fan-engagement moments. The organization said it provided 89 free prostate screenings in Ticketmaster Tailgate, and that fans took part in interactive elements including the Crucial Catch bell, giveaway items, and “I Celebrate” cards.
During halftime, the team said the six VMFH cancer survivor honorees participated in a bell-ringing ceremony recognizing their cancer journeys and survivorship. In the third quarter, the Seahawks said the VMFH physicians who conducted the pregame screenings were recognized on the field and led a Seahawks chant.
The Seahawks also said Jalen Milroe visited a local hospital throughout October in honour of the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative.
