More than 1,000 BC Hydro customers in Richmond lost power after downed wires on Monday afternoon, with restoration expected around 5:15 p.m.

More than 1,000 people in Richmond were without electricity early Monday afternoon after downed wires affected two separate areas.
As of 11 a.m., 847 people in the area north of Alderbridge Way, west of No. 5 Road, south of Caithcart Road and east of No. 4 Road were without power. A second outage affecting 198 BC Hydro customers occurred in the area north of Highway 91, south of Montego Street, east of Highway 99 and west of Jensen Drive.
BC Hydro said power in the second area went out shortly after the first.
BC Hydro crews were expecting power to return to the two affected areas around 5:15 p.m.
