The Story

Toronto lost 5-4 to the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

In the postgame edition of Daily Faceoff’s “After Dark,” Zack Phillips said, “The Maple Leafs have a goaltending problem.”

Phillips criticized both goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky’s performance and head coach Jim Hiller’s roster decision to start him instead of Anthony Stolarz. Phillips said there was “a guy who can’t make a save and is blowing games,” adding that the situation had reached “a f—— issue.”

Phillips also acknowledged that goaltenders cannot be blamed for everything, saying, “The goaltender sometimes doesn’t have it every game behind the team,” and that teams “got to find a way.”

Still, Phillips argued that Bobrovsky’s recent performances have prevented Toronto from building momentum, saying, “Sergei Bobrovsky is the reason that you cannot climb back and get it done.”

Phillips said Bobrovsky “puts you in a hole” and that “when you need it the most, he fucking lets one go through him.”
