The new season of The Amazing Race premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Vancouver is set to feature prominently in the reality competition.
Hosted by Phil Keoghan, Season 39 begins in downtown Vancouver, with Keoghan welcoming racers and fans from the Jack Poole Plaza in Coal Harbour in a recent promo video.
In the promo, the show’s participants bungee jump off the world’s second-largest four-sided centre-hung HD video board inside BC Place.
Another clip shows a team flying over Vancouver in a Harbour Air plane, while photos from the show’s official social media channels show teams kayaking in Burrard Inlet.
The Jack Poole Plaza is also home to the Olympic Cauldron from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and to the annual Vancouver Christmas Market.
BC Place was recently named among the world’s 20 best stadiums for concerts and live music.
The Amazing Race will mark only the third time the series has stopped in Canada and the first time it has come to Vancouver.
In the promo, Keoghan asks, “Is everybody ready to race?”
