The Story
Vancouver Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal said the Pittsburgh Penguins have some degree of interest in acquiring forward Elias Pettersson, while adding there is no indication of any imminent move.
Dhaliwal said he believes Pittsburgh has “some degree of interest in Elias Pettersson,” and he also said he is not hearing a rumour that the Canucks have asked for Ben Kindel in return.
He further stated that he checked in and that Pettersson “has not been asked… to waive his no-move,” which Dhaliwal said “tells you… there’s nothing close.”
Pettersson remains with the Canucks despite the team’s departures of Quinn Hughes, Conor Garland, Tyler Myers and Kiefer Sherwood.
Before the season began, Pettersson spoke at length with Canucks general manager Ryan Johnson, saying he feels he plays his best when he “just feel[s] like myself.”
In comments attributed to Pettersson, he said Johnson has been “good” to talk with about the future and “makes you feel good,” adding that Johnson “just wants the best from you and wants everyone to be happy.”
