Panel gives way in away stand during Tromsø vs Bodø/Glimt match; game resumes

A panel in the away supporters’ stand gave way during Tromsø’s Eliteserien match against Bodø/Glimt on Nov. 8, injuring several fans, and the game later resumed.

The Story

A Norwegian top-tier soccer match between Tromsø and Bodø/Glimt was interrupted on Sunday after a panel in the away fans’ stand appeared to give way, with some supporters falling to the ground below at Tromsø’s stadium in northern Norway.

The match at Romssa Arena in Tromsø later resumed after consultations with the Norwegian Football Federation, Bodø/Glimt, supporters, the police and matchday staff.

Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported that the incident occurred in the 41st minute and that it was raining heavily at the time. NRK said several Bodø/Glimt supporters fell through, and four received medical attention, with one of them hospitalized.

Tromsø said in a statement: “We have had a serious incident in the away section during the match,” and “Preliminary information indicates that a person has fallen through the stands and sustained injuries.” The statement did not provide details on the injuries.

Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin called referee Ola Hobber Nilsen’s attention to the incident, and the game was stopped before play resumed.
