Blondie says its new 13-track studio album “High Noon” will be released Feb. 26 after the band shared the first single “Spectral Eyes” on Thursday.
The Story
Blondie’s new studio album “High Noon” is set to arrive early next year, with the 13-track record scheduled for a Feb. 26 release.
On Thursday, the band shared the single “Spectral Eyes,” described as a driving first release from the album; the song was written by Johnny Marr, the former guitarist of The Smiths, and he also plays on the track.
Debbie Harry, lead singer and songwriter, said in a statement, “This album is classic Blondie — an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” adding that, “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.”
Beyond Marr, the album includes contributions from Glen Matlock, Zach Condon of Beirut, and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius.
“High Noon” will be Blondie’s first studio album since 2017’s “Pollinator,” which featured guest appearances from Marr, Joan Jett and The Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi.
The band says “High Noon” was produced by John Congleton, as was “High Noon,” and that the album was completed before the death last year of drummer Clem Burke.
Sessions for “High Noon” began in 2022.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band dominated the late 1970s and early 1980s with eight Top 40 hits, including four No. 1s: “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me,” “The Tide Is High” and “Rapture,” which is regarded as the first No. 1 hit to feature rap.
