Latitude Air Ambulance says 6 on Heartbeat 104 missing flight presumed dead after SAR ends

The Hamilton-based operator of Heartbeat 104 Medevac says the U.S. Coast Guard has ended active search-and-rescue efforts and the six people aboard are now presumed dead.

The Story

Latitude Air Ambulance says the six people aboard Heartbeat 104 Medevac, a medical evacuation flight that vanished off the U.S. East Coast while travelling from Bermuda to Boston, are presumed dead after active search-and-rescue operations were called off.

The company said in a statement that the U.S. Coast Guard has concluded active search-and-rescue and transitioned to recovery efforts following the disappearance of the aircraft.

Authorities had been searching waters off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, after the flight vanished early Saturday morning, Oct. 3, 2026.

Latitude Air Ambulance said the decision means it must now face “the heartbreaking reality” that the six people on board are presumed dead.

According to the company, the people aboard included four Latitude crew members, a patient being transported from Bermuda to Boston, and a family escort accompanying the patient.
