Vancouver police say firearms were drawn during a traffic stop after a vehicle the registered owner was driving was found in their database as stolen.
The Story
Vancouver Police Department officers drew their firearms during a traffic stop after identifying a vehicle reported stolen in their database, police said on Oct. 30, 2026.
Police say officers were patrolling near 33 Avenue and Victoria Drive when they noticed a vehicle with one front tire askew. When the vehicle was checked in the police database, officers found it had been reported stolen.
According to Const. Megan Lui, officers initiated the traffic stop to prevent the vehicle from continuing. During the stop, the stolen vehicle struck another vehicle.
Police say officers removed the driver, later determining he was the vehicle’s registered owner. Lui confirmed firearms were drawn during the incident but did not specify when during the stop the weapons were drawn.
Lui said no one was injured.
