Viral improvisational saxophonist Nathanial Young to play Oct. 8 Tofino cave show and Oct. 9 Vancouver library set

Nathanial Young will perform an improvisational saxophone pop-up in a Tofino cave on Oct. 8 and in the Vancouver Public Library courtyard on Oct. 9.

The Story

Nathanial Young, an improvisational saxophonist who has shared pop-up performances online under the handle @nathanialpov, is set to play two upcoming shows across B.C.'s South Coast this week.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, Young will return to a cave in Tofino for a one-hour performance at 6:30 p.m.

Then on Friday, Oct. 9, he will play in the downtown Vancouver library courtyard at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch, 350 West Georgia St. The set runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the library performance is free.

Young said he is volunteering for the show because he believes the “glass reverb is so perfect for the soprano saxophone,” and he suggested people check out a book from the library before the performance so they can read during the set.
