The NHL regular season gets underway with the Carolina Hurricanes set to raise their Stanley Cup championship banner before taking on the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers enter the season with captain Aleksander Barkov, and four Canadian teams are also in action at the start of the schedule.
Toronto hosts the Montreal Canadiens for its season opener, and Edmonton begins its season under head coach Mike Babcock by hosting the rebuilding Vancouver Canucks.
The Edmonton opening game is followed by the Calgary Flames kicking off their season Thursday at home against the Seattle Kraken.
On Friday, the Winnipeg Jets begin their season by hosting the Boston Bruins, and the Ottawa Senators play their first game Saturday by visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Opening night also includes an original six matchup between the Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers in Boston, along with a game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vegas Golden Knights in Vegas.
