Seahawks sign DT Deven Eastern and elevate Bobby Hart and Montorie Foster Jr.

The Seahawks signed defensive tackle Deven Eastern off the practice squad and elevated Bobby Hart and Montorie Foster Jr. ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.

The Story

The Seattle Seahawks signed defensive tackle Deven Eastern off their practice squad and elevated tackle Bobby Hart and receiver Montorie Foster Jr. ahead of Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Eastern, a seventh-round pick out of Minnesota in this year’s draft, will make his Seahawks debut after spending the first half of the season on the practice squad.

The move is intended to add depth to Seattle’s defensive line, where Leonard Williams and Brandon Pili are listed among the players ruled out due to injury, along with outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu.

No corresponding move was required to add Eastern because the Seahawks freed up a roster spot on Friday by releasing running back Velus Jones Jr., who they subsequently signed to the practice squad.

Hart, a free-agent signing this offseason, will serve as the Seahawks’ swing tackle for the second straight week, with Josh Jones starting at left tackle in place of Charles Cross, who is out with an ankle injury.

The elevation of Foster marks the second time in a row he has been elevated, with Seattle adding receiver depth as Rashid Shaheed is sidelined by a knee injury.

The Seahawks did not sign or elevate quarterback Adrian Martinez, who joined the practice squad earlier this week with starter Sam Darnold out due to injury, meaning Seattle will go into Sunday’s game with only two quarterbacks: Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe.
