RCMP are investigating an early-morning fire on Old Boston Bar Road that destroyed two homes and led to a nearby railway-tie fire, with no injuries reported.

RCMP say an early-morning residential fire destroyed two homes in Boston Bar and prompted a wider precautionary response in the community, with investigators continuing to determine what caused the flames to spread.
Police were called to a residential fire on Old Boston Bar Road at about 1:51 a.m. on Sept. 22. When officers arrived, RCMP said the fire had grown significantly and had spread to a neighbouring home.
RCMP reported that all residents from the two houses safely evacuated. Nearby homes were also evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries were reported.
As crews responded over the next several hours, police said around 3:30 a.m. they believe embers from the house fire ignited another fire involving a railway tie pile near Railway Avenue. RCMP said the fire department extinguished the secondary blaze.
RCMP said the owner of the first residence is working with investigators. According to police, criminality is not believed to be a factor at this stage, though the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident is likely to affect residents in the area around Old Boston Bar Road and Railway Avenue, particularly given the precautionary evacuations and the secondary fire involving railway materials. With no injuries reported, investigators will now focus on determining how the initial fire started and how it spread to the second home.
