Banff National Park has been named one of the world’s 17 most beautiful national parks by Condé Nast Traveller.

Condé Nast Traveller has ranked Banff National Park in Alberta among the “17 most beautiful national parks in the world,” according to the publication’s list.
The magazine’s selection highlighted the park’s origins in the 1880s, when hot springs now known as Cave and Basin were discovered and the Canadian government moved to protect the springs and surrounding area.
Banff National Park received a record 4.51 million visitors in 2025, the report says, attributing the draw to its natural and built features including hiking trails, glaciers, and lakes such as Peyto and Moraine Lake.
The ranking also pointed to a historic mountain hotel associated with the park, describing it as castle-like.
The park is frequently recognized in international travel and design media, including being named a top travel destination for 2026 by National Geographic and recognized as one of the most beautiful places in the world by Architectural Digest.
Condé Nast Traveller’s list also included national parks outside Canada, such as Namib-Naukluft National Park in Namibia, Kelimutu National Park in Indonesia, and Yellowstone National Park in the United States.
