Dennis Haskins, who portrayed Bayside High School principal Mr. Belding on NBC’s Saved by the Bell, has died. The actor passed away Sept. 26 at the age of 75.
Haskins played Mr. Belding on Saved by the Bell from 1989 to 1993, and later reprised the role in the spin-off series Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which aired from 1993 to 2000.
Cast members shared tributes after news of his death. Mario Lopez, who played A.C. Slater, wrote on X that Haskins was “the biggest kid on the SBTB set,” and said he was grateful for “the laughs, the memories, and the friendship we shared all these years.”
Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle, posted a tribute on Instagram saying she had known Haskins “for almost 40 years” and called the loss “deeply” painful. She described him as a loyal friend with a kind, gentle heart.
Tiffani Thiessen, who played Kelly Kapowski, dedicated Instagram Stories to Haskins, describing him as a “steady presence” and saying he helped keep the cast in line while ensuring they knew he had their support. She said she would always remember his kindness and be grateful for the memories the cast shared with him.
Other Saved by the Bell cast members, including Elizabeth Berkley and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, had not released public statements at the time of the report.
Haskins’ death follows the earlier passing of Dustin Diamond, who played Screech Powers, in 2021. An official cause of death has not been announced.
Outside the cast, WWE wrestler Matt Cardona said he and Haskins became close friends over the years, and wrote that he would be missed. Mike “The Miz” Mizanin also posted on X that he watched Haskins growing up and never imagined he would call him a friend.
