Vancouver police say one suspect is in custody and a second remains at large after a Saturday afternoon shooting at Spanish Banks Beach.

Vancouver Police Department officers are investigating a shooting at Spanish Banks Beach that police believe was targeted, with one suspect arrested and a second still at large.
Police say the incident happened on Saturday afternoon, when witnesses contacted the VPD at about 4:50 p.m. reporting that two masked men opened fire on a parked vehicle with someone inside.
According to the VPD, people in the area observed the licence plate number of the suspects’ sedan and reported it after the men fled.
Officers located the sedan shortly afterward and initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Fraser Street and East 49th Avenue.
Police say one suspect was arrested and remains in custody, while the second suspect has not been found.
Investigators have since recovered the vehicle that was struck by gunfire, but the department has not found or identified any victims in connection with the shooting.
VPD Constable Darren Wong said in a statement that investigators consider the incident “a targeted, isolated event” and that there is “no perceived ongoing threat to the general public.”
The Major Crime Section is handling the investigation, and police are asking for public assistance.
