Nova Kitchen & Bar opens in North Vancouver’s former Browns Socialhouse spot

Nova Kitchen & Bar has opened at 18th & Lonsdale, moving into the former Browns Socialhouse location after a Port Moody opening in June.

The Story

Nova Kitchen & Bar has opened in North Vancouver in the former Browns Socialhouse space at 18th Street and Lonsdale, marking the restaurant’s second location after it first opened in Port Moody in June.

The new North Shore restaurant brings a steakhouse-inspired look to the neighbourhood, with midnight blue and orange accents, brick details, cozy booths and greenery above the open kitchen. A central bar with a backlit bottle wall and wraparound seating is a focal point in the dining room.

Owner and chef Vik said the menu draws inspiration from different parts of the world, while adding a “NOVA twist.” The beverage list includes the Silk Road cocktail, made with Tanqueray, ginger, yuzu, nigori sake, honey, cardamom and egg white.

For starters and sharing plates, Nova offers Coastal Calamari—crispy Humboldt squid with cajun spice, Calabrian chili aioli, shishito peppers, radish and lemon—along with Sticky Gochujang Maple Chicken, featuring a sweet-and-spicy gochujang-maple glaze with sesame, pickled vegetables, scallions and radish.

The menu also highlights prime cuts of 100 per cent Canadian certified Angus beef, including Steak Frites, served as a six-ounce beef sirloin with cabernet jus, seasoned fries and an arugula and tomato salad. Other mains include Beer-Battered Cod Tacos: three pieces of cod with Cajun spice, mango-lime aioli, purple cabbage, pickled onions and cilantro.

For dessert, Chef Vik recommended the chocolate molten cake with pistachio ice cream, while the restaurant also offers Vanilla and Frangelico Crème Brûlée.

Nova’s Golden Hour menu is available daily from 2 to 5 p.m., and Wednesday nights run from 6 to 9:30 p.m. with live music and 50 per cent off wine.
