Mission RCMP say two separate incidents on Sept. 18 involved young children using items at home, but no one was hurt.

Mounties in Mission, B.C., are reminding parents about home safety after two incidents last week in which children found and used items they could access. Police say a seven-year-old boy found a small blow torch in his home on Sept. 18, connected it to a propane cylinder, and started a fire inside the home.
RCMP said the local fire department attended and put out what police described as a small blaze. Police did not report injuries, and said no one was hurt in that incident.
Later the same day, RCMP said a four-year-old boy took the keys to his parents’ Cadillac Escalade and climbed inside. Police said CCTV footage confirmed the child started the vehicle and drove it into two parked cars nearby, also without any reported injuries.
In a news release, Mounties urged parents to look through their homes and consider what could reduce risks, emphasizing the potential for children to turn ordinary or accessible items into dangerous situations.
