Seahawks’ Quenton Nelson to have minor knee procedure, listed week-to-week

Seahawks guard Quenton Nelson will miss Sunday’s game after Mike Macdonald said he will have a minor knee procedure and is week-to-week.

The Story

Seattle announced Friday that newly acquired guard Quenton Nelson will miss Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals after undergoing a minor knee procedure. Head coach Mike Macdonald said Nelson is “week-to-week at this point” and that the club would not place him on injured reserve because the team’s timeline “warrants not IR.”

The announcement came alongside other injury updates for the Seahawks. Seattle will also be without starting quarterback Sam Darnold for the matchup due to a quadriceps injury suffered in Monday night’s game.

Beyond Nelson and Darnold, the Seahawks listed additional players as out: left tackle Charles Cross (ankle), defensive tackle Leonard Williams (stinger), outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (ankle), receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee) and nose tackle Brandon Pili (back). Outside linebacker Connor O’Toole was also listed as questionable with a foot injury.

Macdonald said Nelson had been dealing with a knee issue when he joined the Seahawks last week and that it was listed on last week’s injury report despite Nelson participating as a full participant. The coach said Nelson aggravated the injury after he arrived, prompting the decision for surgery.

With Nelson out, the Seahawks said offensive line adjustments will be required. Macdonald indicated that Grey Zabel, who moved to right guard to accommodate Nelson, will return to left guard, a position Zabel played for his first season and a half in the league. Anthony Bradford, who has been Seattle’s starting right guard for most of his four-year career and started all 20 games last season, will return to the starting lineup.

On the quarterback situation, Macdonald said Drew Lock will start despite an elbow injury that had him listed as limited in practice all week. He also said Jalen Milroe has been getting extra reps and will be prepared if needed.

Macdonald said Lock’s limited practice work has been managed as a precaution. He added: “Drew’s going to start, yeah… He’s done a great job,” and said Milroe had also done “a great job,” describing the preparation as a “tag team effort.”

Seattle held practice on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center as it prepared for its Week 9 matchup versus Arizona.
