The Vegas Golden Knights opened strong and kept control from start to finish, cruising to a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday. Tomas Hertl recorded two goals and two assists for Vegas, and Jack Eichel finished with a goal and three assists as the Golden Knights improved to 3-1-0 and won two straight.

Victor Olofsson scored twice for Vegas, but left the game with an injury at 8:03 of the third period after being hit into the boards by Seattle defenseman Ben Meyers. Meyers was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding.

Vegas struck first at 13:02 of the opening period when Olofsson deflected Rasmus Andersson’s slap shot from the right point past Seattle goaltender Joey Daccord. The Golden Knights extended the lead to 2-0 at 15:58 on the power play when Eichel sent a pass from the left corner to Hertl at the top of the crease; Hertl one-timed it under Daccord’s glove.

Mark Stone made it 3-0 at 1:43 of the second period with a short-handed goal. The play began when Brandon Montour’s stick broke on an attempted slap shot, creating a 2-on-1 rush opportunity for Vegas; Eichel fed Stone in the left circle, and Stone one-timed the puck off Daccord’s right pad and in.

Olofsson’s second goal pushed Vegas further ahead at 13:07 of the second period. After Hertl’s centering feed was deflected by Daccord, the puck landed on Olofsson’s stick in the slot, and he snapped it off the left post and in for a 4-0 advantage.

Eichel then made it 5-0 at 19:29 of the second period, scoring on a breakaway. By that point, Vegas had built a commanding cushion as Seattle struggled to generate consistent finishing chances.

Seattle finally got on the board early in the third. Shane Wright cut the deficit to 5-1 at 4:52, taking Kaapo Kakko’s pass at the top of the slot and firing it off the right post and in.

Hertl added his second power-play goal of the night to bring the score to 6-1 at 9:43 of the third. Hertl received a pass from Ivan Barbashev at the goal line, waited for Philipp Grubauer to drop, and slipped the puck under his glove.

Jared McCann capped the scoring for Vegas at 15:00 of the third with a power-play goal. McCann snapped a shot from the left circle over Hart’s blocker for the 6-2 final.

Seattle’s goaltending situation changed during the game after Daccord allowed five goals on 21 shots in the first two periods. He was replaced by Grubauer, who made six saves in relief, while Vancouver’s Carter Hart stopped 25 shots in total.

For the Kraken, the loss came after they had won their previous game 6-1 over the Calgary Flames on Sunday. For Vegas, the win marked a second consecutive victory as the team improved its position in the early-season standings.
