PHILADELPHIA — Travis Konecny returned to the Philadelphia Flyers lineup and produced a goal and an assist as the Flyers defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-3 on Sunday at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The win extended a rebound for Philadelphia after a difficult stretch, with the club having lost its previous three games before Sunday’s result.

Konecny missed the prior 10 Flyers games because of a lower-body injury. In his return, he directly contributed to key moments in Philadelphia’s scoring, including a set up for Christian Dvorak’s third-period goal. Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar made 19 saves to help Philadelphia protect the lead after building it early.

Philadelphia jumped in front at 12:49 of the first period when Matvei Michkov scored. The goal came after Michkov intercepted Utah defenseman Nate Schmidt’s clearing attempt above the right face-off circle, then finished after Porter Martone’s centering pass from the corner bounced out to him for a shot that beat Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka from the left post.

Utah responded at 14:24 as Dmitri Simashev tied the game 1-1. Vincent Trocheck lifted a backhand from center ice that took an odd bounce in the slot, and Simashev skated onto the puck to snap it past Vladar for the equalizer.

Konecny’s impact continued in the second period as Philadelphia regained the lead 1:06 into the frame. With a backhand along the ice from the side of the net, Konecny’s attempt deflected off the skate of Mammoth defenseman Artem Duda and went under Vejmelka, restoring the Flyers’ advantage.

Noah Cates pushed Philadelphia further ahead at 5:50 of the second. Cates fired a snap shot from the top of the left face-off circle, with the puck ramping up off Sergachev’s stick and beating Vejmelka to make it 3-1.

The third period began with Philadelphia holding a three-goal cushion, and it quickly added to the lead. Christian Dvorak made it 4-1 at 1:02 when he scored from the hash marks following a setup by Konecny.

Oliver Bonk increased the margin to 5-1 at 5:35, finishing on a slap shot from the right circle. Utah then narrowed the deficit late in the third with special teams, as Mikhail Sergachev scored a power-play goal off a one-timer to make it 5-2 at 16:00.

Utah added another power-play strike at 17:07 when Logan Cooley scored, converting a chance after Vladar made a toe save. Despite the late push, Philadelphia closed the scoring with an empty-net goal from Cole Knuble at 18:26 to set the final margin at 6-3.

For Utah, Cooley finished with a goal and an assist, while Simashev and Sergachev each recorded goals. Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller each added two assists, and Vejmelka made 15 saves. Philadelphia’s Jamie Drysdale added three assists and Vladar stopped 19 shots as the Flyers improved to a 4-8-4 record with Sunday’s win.

Philadelphia’s 6-3 outcome featured goals across all three periods, a productive return from Konecny after a 10-game absence, and a Flyers response that held after Utah’s late power-play goals pulled the score closer. The result also underscored the importance of depth scoring for the Flyers, with multiple players registering a goal and an assist in the win over the Mammoth.
