Louis Crevier has signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Buffalo Sabres, the team announced Thursday through NHL reporting. The agreement carries an average annual value (AAV) of $4 million and is set to begin next season.

Crevier, a 25-year-old defenseman, posted 25 points with the Chicago Blackhawks last season, recording seven goals and 18 assists in 78 games. Buffalo acquired Crevier on June 23 as part of a trade with Chicago that sent defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Jordan Greenway to the Blackhawks.

At the time of the new agreement, Crevier was in the final season of a two-year contract he signed with Chicago on July 17, 2025. NHL reporting noted that without the new deal, Crevier could have become a restricted free agent after this season, but he is now under contract through the 2030-31 campaign.

Drafted by Chicago in the seventh round (No. 188) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Crevier has recorded 32 points, including 10 goals and 22 assists, in 134 regular-season games across his NHL career to date, according to the transaction details published Thursday.

With the contract now secured, the Sabres will carry Crevier forward as the organization plans for its defensive group beyond this current season. NHL reporting also confirmed that Buffalo’s next regular-season game is the season opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET, with regional and national broadcast listings provided by NHL media outlets (CBJHN, CBJNHL, MSG-B).
