5 foreign nationals charged in extortion case tied to Project E_PURSUANCE in B.C.

RCMP say five foreign nationals were charged after an extortion investigation launched in June 2025, including arrests in Surrey and at Toronto-Pearson.

The Story

RCMP announced Friday that five foreign nationals have been charged in connection with extortion-related crimes in British Columbia, as part of Project E_PURSUANCE.

Investigation officer Supt. Harm Dosange, the officer in charge of the Langley RCMP, said the probe began in June 2025 after co-owners of an auto dealership reported being subjected to what he described as “extreme extortion demands.”

Dosange said the investigation later identified “acts of violence,” including arson and shootings in Langley and Surrey.

He said a dedicated project team and operations across Canada and internationally helped investigators identify a group allegedly involved in the extortion, along with other alleged offences including firearms trafficking and drug trafficking.

As part of Project E_PURSUANCE, Dosange said four men were arrested in Surrey on Thursday, and one man—identified as a resident of India—was arrested at Toronto-Pearson International Airport.

Dosange said the project also led to the seizure of dangerous items taken off the streets, including firearms and drugs police suspect are cocaine, fentanyl and opium.

He added that investigators obtained evidence identifying additional suspects and that they were sharing it with policing partners in Western Canada and across Canada, adding they were “expecting more charges coming”.
