Vancouver-area home sales down 8.4% in September as benchmark price falls, Realtors report

Greater Vancouver Realtors says home sales in the Vancouver region fell 8.4 per cent in September year over year.

Home sales in the Vancouver region were 8.4 per cent lower in September than they were a year earlier, according to Greater Vancouver Realtors.

The board reported 1,717 home sales in September, which was 25 per cent below the 10-year seasonal average.

Greater Vancouver Realtors said fewer apartment-style homes changed hands, while attached and detached home sales were slightly above last year’s levels.

For pricing, the composite benchmark price for all types of residential properties in Vancouver was $1,075,900. That figure was down 5.5 per cent from September 2025 and down 0.6 per cent from August 2026.

The board reported 5,852 new listings last month, down 10.3 per cent year over year but 5.7 per cent above the 10-year average.

Total inventory fell 4 per cent year over year to 16,394, and was 24.3 per cent above the long-term average.
