Richmond’s Daya Bhullar, 12, wins second straight provincial gold at Boxing BC Provincials

Raincity Boxing Club’s Daya Bhullar won junior A boys provincial gold again at the 2026 Boxing BC Provincials and Bronze Gloves tournament.

The Story

Raincity Boxing Club’s Daya Bhullar, 12, represented Richmond and won gold again at the 2026 Boxing BC Provincials and Bronze Gloves tournament. The event was held Sept. 26 and 27 at the Chilliwack Landing Sports Centre and was hosted by the BC Boxing Association.

Bhullar competed in the junior A boys 41-kilogram bracket for under 12 years old. His gold-medal fight was against Kelowna’s Tommy Lipkovits.

In describing the bout, Bhullar said Lipkovits was "strong and aggressive," and that speed, movement and footwork were key to taking the win. He said he entered the competition with a mix of excitement, focus and nervousness after training every day throughout the summer.

Bhullar said he knew the competition would be tough and that he didn’t want to take anything for granted. When asked how he felt after being announced the winner, he said he was thrilled and proud that his training paid off, adding that "Winning it for the second year in a row made it even more special."

Bhullar credited sacrifices by his parents and family, along with the support of his coaches, for helping him reach his current level.
