Fort St. John RCMP say a 34-year-old man has been charged after an alleged home invasion and sexual assault in the late Tuesday hours on 87 Street.
The Story
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged following what Fort St. John RCMP describe as a violent home invasion and sexual assault in northeastern British Columbia.
Police say the alleged attack happened late Tuesday at a residence on 87 Street. RCMP allege a man entered the home after following a woman there.
According to police, people inside the home initially scared the man off and called officers, who conducted a search but did not find the suspect.
RCMP say the alleged attacker then reportedly re-entered the home, where he sexually assaulted a second resident before fleeing.
Police say the suspect was identified and arrested on Wednesday, and there is now “no ongoing risk to the public” after the arrest.
RCMP say Michael Broad has been charged with four offences: sexual assault with a weapon, breaking and entering a residence to commit an indictable offence, uttering threats, and forcible confinement.
