Statistics Canada has released a ranked chart showing which dates in the year tend to have the most and fewest births, from most common to least common.
The Story
Statistics Canada has published a chart ranking birthdays by how common each date is across the year, listing the most common day as first and the least common day as 366th.
The least common birthday is Feb. 29, which Statistics Canada says happens once every four years.
The chart shows that Sept. 20 is the most common birthday, with other September dates close behind. It also notes that July is a fairly common month for birthdays, with Canada Day ranking 332.
Among the lower-ranking dates, the chart places Christmas, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day as the three least common days after Feb. 29.
Statistics Canada built the chart using the most live births recorded on each day between 1995 and 2025.
