The federal government says the Canada Strong Pass will be renewed for summer 2027 and that Canadians under 25 will be able to access national museums year-round for free.
The Story
The Canada Strong Pass is set to return for summer 2027, with the federal government also announcing permanent free access for Canadians under 25 to visit national museums year-round.
The pass was first unveiled in June 2025 as a way for Canadians “to enjoy the very best Canada has to offer,” offering access to museums, rail travel, and camping spots either for free or at a discounted rate.
According to Budget 2026, the program boosted interest in national attractions: Parks Canada sites saw a 13% increase in visits, national museum attendance grew by an average of 15%, and VIA Rail ridership increased by 6.5%.
Last year’s Canada Strong Pass included several perks for different age groups and activities, including Parks Canada free admission for all visitors to national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada, along with an additional 25% discount on camping fees.
It also included free and reduced admission at participating museums and galleries for children aged 17 and under, as well as a 50% discount for young adults aged 18 to 24.
For VIA Rail, the pass offered free travel for children aged 17 and under when accompanied by an adult, along with a 25% discount for young adults aged 18 to 24.
More details about what will be available with the renewed pass are expected to be released closer to summer 2027.
