Mount Pleasant restaurant Murmur closing at month-end after about a year in business

Murmur, a Mount Pleasant restaurant at 225 E Broadway, announced it will close at the end of November 2025.

The Story

A restaurant in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is set to close just a year after opening its doors. Murmur announced on social media that its final service will be Nov. 29 and that its last days will run until the end of the month.

The restaurant opened in August 2025 at 225 E Broadway. The owners said the exterior of the building had been heavily renovated before opening, adding that “It’s not ugly inside.”

Murmur said the surrounding area was also affected by nearby work connected to the Broadway subway project, which brought heavy traffic disruptions. The restaurant offered all-day service, including doughnuts, sausage rolls and hand pies as snack options, along with European-inspired sandwiches for lunch and larger mains.

After opening, Murmur expanded to regular dinner service. The owners also described the business as operating on a no-tip model.

In its closure announcement, Murmur thanked guests and staff, writing: “This has not been an easy decision, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us, dined with us, celebrated special occasions with us, and made Murmur a part of their lives.” The post added that the journey included “ups and downs,” and encouraged people to “come eat, sit, relax and enjoy” until Nov. 29.
