Starbucks has opened a new ground-floor cafe in Vancouver’s The Stories tower at West Broadway and Granville near the future South Granville Station entrance.

The Story

Starbucks has opened a new cafe on the ground floor of The Stories, a newly built 39-storey mixed-use tower at the prominent corner of West Broadway and Granville Street in Vancouver.

The cafe is located in retail space designated for a cafe in the building and sits immediately adjacent to the future subway entrance for South Granville Station on SkyTrain’s Millennium Line Broadway extension.

Following the opening, Starbucks closed its longtime cafe inside the Indigo bookstore across the intersection at the southwest corner, according to the details provided with the announcement.

The Stories was developed by PCI Development and completed in 2025. The tower includes retail or restaurant space on its first two levels, 106,000 sq. ft. of office space in the upper levels of its base podium, and 226 secured, purpose-built rental homes in the remaining levels.

A Royal Bank of Canada branch has reopened at the site, occupying a retail unit near the middle of the tower. In June 2026, a 19,000 sq. ft. Loblaws City Market grocery store opened on the second level, with its ground-floor entrance near the eastern end of the building’s West Broadway frontage.

The new Starbucks location is described as a one-for-one replacement rather than a net gain of Starbucks locations in the immediate South Granville area. Separately, Starbucks announced it will close about 250 locations across Canada and the United States, representing roughly one per cent of its North American locations, with at least three locations already reported closed in downtown Vancouver since the announcement.
