Yang Hansen sees limited early minutes as Portland plays Suns, Kings and Lakers

Portland’s 7-foot-1 centre Yang Hansen has appeared in only one of the Trail Blazers’ first three games, posting five points and three rebounds in a season-opening win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Story

The Portland Trail Blazers selected 7-foot-1 centre Yang Hansen with the No. 16 overall pick after trading into the spot during the 2025 draft, and he arrived with early attention that included summer league hype that saw him dubbed the “Chinese Jokic.”

In the Blazers’ early season action, Hansen has played just one out of their first three games. He appeared during Portland’s 41-point win over the Phoenix Suns on opening night, scoring five points and grabbing three rebounds.

In the team’s subsequent closer wins over the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers, Hansen did not get off the bench, according to the game usage described in the report.

Portland carried Hansen for 43 games at the NBA level as a rookie, averaging 7.0 minutes, 2.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.

In the G League last season, Hansen put up 17.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, illustrating the statistical role he has held at that level.
