Fire crews responded to a blaze after a third-floor balcony fire was reported at 37 Agnes St. around 3 a.m. Sunday in New Westminster.

Fire broke out at an apartment building in downtown New Westminster around 3 a.m. Sunday, prompting an evacuation and a large response from fire crews.
The building is located at 37 Agnes St., near the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge, and flames reportedly started from a third-floor balcony sometime after 3 a.m.
BC Emergency Health Services said it was called to the scene around 3:30 a.m., and three ambulances responded.
EMS said it provided medical care to three patients, and all were transported to hospital in stable condition.
Residents were evacuated to a bus that took them to an emergency reception centre set up for displaced residents at the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre.
The City of New Westminster said in a social media post that Royal Avenue between Fourth Street and McBride Boulevard was closed in all directions.
