The Story
Tubi says it has more than 13,000 hours of horror content in Canada, including more than 60 Tubi Original horror films, giving viewers a range of subgenres to choose from this October.
Among the recommended titles are “Mayhem,” directed by Joe Lynch and starring Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving, which follows a virus that spreads through an office complex and prompts workers to act out their worst impulses.
Tubi’s list also includes “The Taking of Deborah Logan,” directed by Adam Robitel and starring Jill Larson and Anne Ramsay, where a thesis recording Deborah’s daily life eventually shows that something has taken control of her.
For classic horror, the selection highlights Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho,” starring Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh and Vera Miles, about a secretary on the run who takes refuge in a secluded California motel.
Other picks on Tubi Canada range from the sorority-sister thriller “Buzzkill,” directed by Jem Garrard and starring Siena Agudong and Brec Bassinge, to “Hell House,” directed by Stephen Cognetti, which centres on a documentary crew investigating a haunted house five years after a deadly opening night of a Halloween attraction.
The recommendations also include “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (1974), directed by Tobe Hooper and starring Marilyn Burns, Gunnar Hansen and Paul A. Partain, along with “Who Invited Them,” directed by Duncan Birmingham and starring Ryan Hansen and Melissa Tang.
Tubi’s horror slate further lists “Terrifier,” directed by Damien Leone and starring David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, and “Noroi: The Curse,” directed by Koji Shiraishi with Jin Muraki and Marika Matsumoto, described as footage left behind after a paranormal reporter investigating an ancient demon vanishes.
Additional choices include “Sleepaway Camp,” directed by Robert Hiltzik and starring Felissa Rose; “Deep Red,” directed by Dario Argento; and “V/H/S,” which is presented as part of a franchise and described as involving misfits burglarizing a desolate house to acquire a rare tape.
Tubi also highlights “Midsommar,” directed by Ari Aster and starring Florence Pugh, and “Bone Tomahawk,” directed by S. Craig Zahler and starring Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox and Kurt Russell.
