Drugs, weapons seized after Kamloops joint investigation involving CFSEU-BC and Kamloops RCMP

Kamloops RCMP and the CFSEU-BC’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team seized drugs and weapons during a joint investigation last month.

The Story

Kamloops RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (CFSEU-BC/UGET) carried out a joint operation that included several days of education initiatives and targeted enforcement activities.

Police said the operation ran from Sept. 24 to 26, during which several people were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A large seizure of drugs and weapons was also part of the joint investigation, with police listing items including a loaded .44-calibre gun and suspected illicit substances that included fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.

In addition to drugs, the seized items included 22 other weapons, police said, including brass knuckles, airsoft guns, batons, bear spray, knives and axes.

Police also reported seizing about $5,000 in Canadian cash.

As part of the operation, the UGET conducted its Proactive Interdiction and Enforcement Tactics (PIET) workshop for Kamloops RCMP to help identify, investigate and disrupt gang-related and organized crime activity in communities.

The PIET workshops, police said, continue to be rolled out to other police agencies across British Columbia.
