Mount Pleasant bar Tocador to close at end of October after nearly nine years

Tocador, located at 2610 Main St., says it will shutter at the end of October, with a Halloween party planned for its final night.

The Story

Tocador, a bar in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, is planning to close at the end of October after about nine years in the space.

The Latin American-inspired spot at 2610 Main St. offered food and cocktails, and it was named one of Canada’s Best New Bars in 2018 soon after it opened.

In an Instagram post, Tocador wrote: “We’re peacing out,” adding, “It’s been a fabulous nine years, and we’re so grateful for it.”

The restaurant says it is introducing a new menu featuring some of its top cocktails from the past to mark its final stretch.

Tocador has not shared a reason for the closure.

The posted plan indicates that a Halloween party—described as “likely”—will be part of what the bar says will be its last night of operation.
