The City of Maple Ridge says a gas leak has led to a road shutdown and the evacuation of three nearby apartment buildings.
The Story
The City of Maple Ridge alerted the public to a gas leak that prompted evacuations and a road closure on Wednesday around noon.
The city said 224 Street was closed in both directions between 117 Avenue and Callaghan Avenue so FortisBC crews could respond.
Three nearby apartment buildings were evacuated, and Emergency Support Services are available to residents, according to the city.
The City of Maple Ridge asked people to avoid the area, use alternate routes, and respect directions from fire and traffic management crews while the response is underway.
